Our new investment process

Over the years we have tried lots of different approaches to investing, some performing worse than others. Our latest adaptation is described here in outline for those seeking investment. We plan to invest in one or more companies once per quarter.

• Apply: Anyone can apply by signing up for GWiz™ - yes you have to pay. It's the first way we differentiate between serious folks seeking investment and the folks who basically consume lots of time. If you cannot afford $99, you are not ready for our investment, and if you are not willing, we are not likely to be interested in investing in you.
• Fill out the form: When you sign up, you will be given an online account and instructions. The first test is your ability to follow the instructions and your willingness to provide the information we are asking for. For those who know what they are doing in their company, it takes under an hour, and you will get our included analysis of your application. We get very positive feedback from companies who go through the process, even if they are not going to get an investment. When you think you have the for, done correctly, email us and we will do a review, emailing you back with comments. You can then fix/change it as/if you like.
• Deal Screening: At the end of the month, we will review the applications and invite (or not) some of them to go the next step. We will let everyone know is we plan to continue the process with them, so you don't have to worry about not hearing back from us. Note you have not yet had a chance to pitch to us, and we do not view that as important as the other information we will be getting from you.
• Diligence (or not): If you are invited to go forward to the diligence process, we will give you access to our Diligence™ package, for no additional fee. For those who want to go through the diligence application regardless, you can purchase access to the application here. This is a far more extensive company drill-down that allows us to get close to a final decision.
• Presentation: We will invite you to present on a mutually acceptable date and time, online of course, and during that process we will also go through your diligence in detail and edit things with you along the way. This usually takes at least an hour and sometimes several hours.
• Decision: We will make a preliminary decision at this point and let you know. As/if we decide to continue, there will be some substantial additional paperwork to go through to complete an actual investment.
• Follow-up: After investment, you will be invited to join our monthly CEOs forum for portfolio company CEOs only, and we will be working with you over time to help support our investment as we move forward together.
