Another AI Article - or not!

With the popular uprising in AI, the rebel forces have started to replace the creatives, and the creatives are afraid. So they claim the AI is replacing the engineers and programmers.

Meanwhile, on the planet Nutso, the programmers have started to believe this and are now using AI to work for 2 hours a day each on 4 jobs, gathering 4 times the pay to merely supervise the AI.

In the run-up to the revolution, forces on planet Moreai anticipating the upcoming regulatory push, started laying off programmers and talking to the intergalactic counsels about outlawing the revel AI forces.

Advertising Insanity

Of course we are not talking about artificial intelligence here. Rather, this is a discussion of advertising insanity - the new AI.

While the old AI was concerned about getting right answers, improving the accuracy of medical diagnoses, playing chess and checkers better than people, automating real-time decision-making, and similar sorts of esoteric things that might actually help the world, modern AI is concerned more with how to make friends and influence people.

The language of influence has been a study of serious folks since at least the 1960s when the push was made away from need-based sales toward wants-based sales took over. This was part of the revolution after World War 2, when "a chicken in every pot" became less important than "pot or you're a chicken". From the stone ages to the stoned ages, Western society moved from getting enough food to eat into a mode of opulence not seen ever before in the history of humanity. All of a sudden, the average American lived better than the wealthiest nobility of a century before.

What's the nobility to do?

If you are an average citizen living in that era, that's all fine and good. But what about the nobility? In order to stay always a cut above, they had to find a way to stay superior. And that could not be done based on their brains or bodies or even their access to information. Sure - the tried for a while, but by the 2000s it became apparent that the average teenager had or would soon have access to more and better information about the world than the most experienced expert in any given field.

While the old nobility suffered a near collapse, the new nobility of the great unwashed wealthy worked wildly with wonder to wield a world of wealth where we could never go. They built their new palaces with their walled gardens and their own nights to guard their castles. They created larger and larger places to live with bigger faster fancier yachts that still sank, and took to outer space and undersea in a race to opulence not previously experienced. They took glamor to a new era and hired PR firms and private investigators to protect their images.

But egalitarianism took hold

As the rebel farces took hold, nothing could stop the march to democratization in the form of anarchy. The rabble were the rebels and their rivals were the rightists. The rebels came to believe they had the upper hand, and the rightists outfoxed them, telling them that they were the true rabble and took to labeling the rebels as radicals. Then when the radical rebels were roughed up by the foxy rightists, the real right rose and started to run more of the realm.

But as the rest of us rode the ride of the rabble the right became too radical, and really wrought wrongs on the rest. So scientists sacrificed sincerity so seeking solace sourced sacrificial slander slimers so selling sufficed substituting substance. Thus the artificial integration of neural networks into logical layouts led to today's advertising insanity - the new AI. We can say all the things that could ever be said, in new ways that retain the seeming sensibility without the need for thoughtful theories or testable treatises. Truly terrific tendencies translated to tender teasers taught tumultuously to trusting targets. If it sounds too good to be true, just adjust your view of reality and it will be as good as it sounds.
